Recycling Center
Help keep the recycling drop-off program sustainable. Please do not leave ANY type of material on the ground. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
We ask that you read the container signs to ensure you are recycling the right materials. If you have any questions, please contact Lycoming County Resource Management at 800-326-9571. Please click here for a list of recyclable materials.
Resource Management has recently changed the style of recycling bins and we are working in conjunction with them to maximize efficiency and recycling needs. We appreciate your patience during the transition.
Grass, Weeds & Other Vegetation
Under the International Property Maintenance Code, grass weeds, or other vegetation that is not edible may not grow to exceed a height of eight (8) inches. No person shall willfully case, blow, or otherwise deposit upon any street, alley, or sidewalk any grass, weeds, or vegetation, including but not limited to lawn clippings.

Winter Parking Ordinance
During a winter storm emergency, parking prohibitions/restrictions within the Borough of Jersey Shore will be in effect. The declaration and termination of the winter storm emergency shall be provided to the radio and television. In the event the Borough Manager declares a winter storm emergency, on odd days parking shall be permitted only on the odd-addressed sides of the street, and on even days, parking shall be permitted only on the even-addressed sides of the street. These restrictions will be in effect until the winter storm emergency is declared over. Any vehicle parked or left unattended on any street during the forty-eight (48) hour period after a winter storm shall be declared abandoned and can be towed and stored. Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance, upon conviction thereof, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs and/or to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 90 days. Each day that a violation of the Ordinance occurs shall be found to constitute a separate offense.

Garbage/Rubbish
Under the International Property Maintenance Code, all exterior properties shall be free from any accumulation of rubbish and garbage and shall be disposed of in a clean and sanitary manner in approved leakproof, covered containers. The owner of every dwelling shall supply an approved leakproof, covered outside garbage container.

Yard Sales
No person shall conduct a yard sale over a period of time in excess of 48 hours or place a sign advertising a yard sale on a utility pole, telephone pole, street, alley, sidewalk, or public property. Signs can be placed on the community bulletin board located at 232 Pennsylvania Avenue no more than 72 (seventy-two) hours prior to the commencement of the yard sale and shall be removed within 24 (twenty-four) hours after the conclusion of the yard sale.

Dumpsters
A dumpster may not be placed on any Borough Street without obtaining a permit from the Borough Office 48 hours prior to the dumpster being placed. Dumpsters must be covered, display two reflective devices on all four corners, surrounded by orange traffic cones, and lighted lanterns of red/amber during periods of darkness.

Community Bulletin Board
The Community Bulletin Board has been relocated to the grassy area near the recycling center on N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Yard sale signs can be placed on the Community Bulletin Board in compliance with Ordinance 2015-03. Ordinance 2015-03, Section 3: Signs states in part: It shall be lawful for a person to place one sign advertising any one-yard sale, not exceeding 12 inches by 12 inches in dimensions, to be posted on the community bulletin board. Any such sign shall not be posted by using nails, tacks, staples, string, or other adhesive or fastening devices. Yard sale signs may be placed on private property in accordance with all other provisions of this Ordinance. No such sign shall be posted more than 72 (seventy-two) hours prior to the commencement of the yard sale. All such signs shall be removed within 24 (twenty-four) hours after the conclusion of the yard sale.

Brush Drop Off
Residents of the Borough of Jersey Shore can sign out the key from the Borough Office Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Residents must have their vehicles loaded before signing out the key. If you have more than one load, the key must be returned after every load.
Must have Driver's License Ready as Proof of Residency
During the Months of April, May, June, September, October, and November.
The brush pile is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
No key is needed

Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program
Program Participation Requirements: In order to participate in the rehabilitation program, you must meet the following requirements:
Ownership: You must be the homeowner and your name must be on the deed. You will also be required to make the home your primary residence for 5 years after the rehabilitation work is completed.
Taxes: You must be current on all your personal, property, and school taxes.
Municipal Services: You must be current on all your municipal service: sewer, water, garbage, recycling, etc.

Contractors are invited to register to be on the bidding list for residential jobs in the Jersey Shore Area.
Requirements include references, registration with the Attorney General’s Office,
EPA lead-based paint training, and liability insurance.
SEDA-COG staff will help you find EPA training if required.

Recycling
Attention Borough Residents
Lycoming County Recycling ceased its residential curbside collection in the Borough of Jersey Shore on November 7, 2014. Please contact your trash hauler to set up Single Stream recycling or you may use the drop-off recycling center on North Pennsylvania Avenue.

Disposal of CFL Lightbulbs
The EPA recommends that consumers take advantage of available local options for recycling CFLs, fluorescent bulbs, and other bulbs that contain mercury and all other household hazardous wastes rather than disposing of them in regular household trash. Please bring your burnt-out CFL light bulbs to the Borough Office for proper disposal. For further information, please visit the EPA website.
